Born to a Hungering and a Fright, she is a Dread Element; an element of growing, hungering fear. Her body is a mix of reds and blacks, and has an almost transparent edge to it; she's not completely see-through, but at that edge of "almost". Within her chest rests a thorn-covered bud, a Fear Bloom that has not yet bloomed. As she grows this bud will grow and blossom, but the size it reaches in adulthood will depend on how many Fear Seeds she plants in others. Her Fear Bloom feeds off the fear she grows in others.
Fear Seeds can be planted in anyone. They're invisible to anyone who cannot see Nature Spirits, and have no physical feel to them. They take root in a single fear of the victim (which can be chosen by the Dread), and the seed slowly feeds off and grows that fear until the seed grows into a sprout and, eventually, a Fear Bloom on the victim's body. This Fear Bloom grows larger and larger the more it's left to feast, and it begins to weigh down the victim it's planted on until the weight of the fear causes an endless freeze/flight response in the affected individual. If left unremoved, the planted Fear Bloom can lead to death by fear. (This takes years. A Fear Bloom wants to prolong the fear and dread in it's "soil", so the process is not quick.) A Fear Seed only becomes visible to Nature Spirit Sight when it sprouts, so by then it has already started to feast. It can be removed by someone with the ability to see it, but the process is painful for both the one removing the bloom and the one suffering from it. Once removed it takes away the fear it was feasting on - permanently removing that fear from the victim. Though this side-effect may be seen as a positive to the now freed victim, it can lead to danger. Fear is necessary for knowing what's dangerous, after all. She has a visible black and red Aura coiling up like smoke along her body. |
